Home-Made Bacon Breakfast Burrito!

BACON! Is awesome in the morning with a nice side of scrambled eggs and a hot cup of coffee or tea, which ever one tickles your fancy; personally I love a nice cup of coffee in the morning. BUT this post isn't about coffee or tea, its about burritos! And the delicious what I like to call a BACON BREAKFAST BURRITO! Sounds filling it is! Yes the only difference between my home-made burrito and other burritos is the bacon.

Make your own Bacon Breakfast Burrito
The breakfast burrito doesn't have to have bacon in it, it is highly recommended; but is not necessary if for some reason you have something against bacon. Which by the way if you do have an issue with bacon I suggest you resolve that issue A.S.A.P! Because bacon I think is one of the most amazing pieces of meat cut off the fattest part of the pig. I used chicken bacon but pork bacon is fine to, I recommend the chicken bacon because it less fatty and posses less oil.
The guacamole was made the night before. But you just smush or blend avocado, 2 cloves of garlic, quarter cup of onion, lemon or lime juice or both, 4 cherry tomatoes, 1 stem of cilantro, 1/6 of jalapenos and salt and pepper for taste; as you know some of these ingredient in guacamole are optional.
The first thing I did was scramble the eggs and heat the pan, I had a second pan heating up for the bean paste and put a few scoops of the beans on pan with some olive oil. Soften them up a bit more and then I added some white rice that was cooked the night before, and mixed that in with the beans, I added jalapenos to the rice and beans and let it cook on low for the rest of the time the eggs cooked.
With the eggs scrambled and the pan hot enough I poured the eggs onto the pan, I like to cook green onions with eggs. While that cooked on low, I started a third pan for the chicken bacon once the pan is hot enough I put some oil down and put the chicken bacon down. You have to constantly keep an eye on the bean paste because it will stick if you do not mix it around a bit every now and then.
Once everything was cooked I took the pitas and started with the cooked scrambled eggs, the beans went on top of the eggs, and then some chopped Provolone cheese, I put the bacon down, lettuce, sour creme, guacamole, salsa sauce.
Don't stuff the pita too much

And that may happen if you stuff the pita too much, or if the pita's aren't big enough. In my case I would say the pita is definitely not large enough. The burritos didn't wrap so I couldn't grill them on the George Foreman, its a sad time when a pita isn't big enough to wrap it tight enough into a perfectly round burrito. But the does not mean its not a burrito if it doesn't wrap and it half wrapped.
That was the messiest burrito I ever ate; a lot fell out but dang! It was still an amazing home-made bacon breakfast burrito! I hope the cooking instructions were easy to read and follow and guess what! If you have your own burrito recipe you can tell me about it on my awesome burrito pages!

Burrito Bandidos!!

Burrito Bandidos!

This was an excellent burrito! This was my first time visiting Burrito Bandidos. There was another time I was going to get a burrito after a night out with the buddies but they were closed. The service at any burrito place with young hip adults working there is going to have a very friendly and relaxed atmosphere. I went to the Burrito Bandidos at Bloor St. W, at Walmer Road. It is a bit small but there is a bar table and stools to sit and enjoy an excellent burrito. Order your burrito small or large remember 10 or 12 inch white or whole wheat pita; Burrito Bandidos lets you mix with steak, chicken, shrimp, and halibut, vegetarian to but that is pretty much the same as getting the vegetable toppings on your burrito.
I went to Burrito Bandidos with a friend two burritos is better than one. I got a whole wheat small yes I know small (I had a big lunch earlier) but a small whole wheat chicken and shrimp burrito, my friend was a warrior and got a large whole wheat shrimp and steak burrito. After selecting the type of burrito you say what toppings you want and what toppings you don't want, take a seat; chill and wait for your burrito to be made. They give you an order number, its only really important to remember your burrito order number when its busy but if its dead and you and a few other people in there just remember your burrito. The price for a burrito and drink and very similar to those of other burrito places but the halibut burrito is the most expensive and you can only get it in a large. OH Burrito Bandidos doesn't charge for fresh guacamole either! All the other burrito places I've been too they charge an 2.00$ for fresh guacamole, Burrito Bandidos does not charge you and it tasted fresher than any other guacamole I've had! Its exactly like home-made guacamole.

The juiciest burrito I've had yet!
Yes! I did say juicy, because that is what the chicken and shrimp burrito was! JUICY! And I'm sure my friend who got a shrimp and steak burrito would agree. Not only was the burrito grilled to perfection with a bit of crunch but soft enough to still bite into it with ease. Burrito Bandidos has a generous selection of toppings and sauces to choose from, with these options available I usually get everything except jalapenos, sometimes I'm afraid that will be too spicy. As well as the sauces I choose all the sauces, that is a factor as to why the burrito was juicy but it was also the grilled chicken and shrimp, the fresh vegetables, the well cooked rice and beans, and then the fresh guacamole with its brilliant beautiful green color! The first bite into the burrito was just the best, all the toppings mixing together in one bite with none of the toppings falling all over the place, its a messy burrito, but it all the toppings stay together in the pita.

These are the burritos from Burrito Bandidos
Chicken and Shrimp burrito            Shrimp and Steak burrito

These pictures up top the shrimp isn't visible enough BUT this picture has a nice big piece of shrimp.

"Chicken and Shrimp hmmmm I don't know...."
That was the first thing I said prior to trying a chicken and shrimp burrito, but I assure you it is absolutely delicious! The chicken is soft and warm and melts in your mouth, grilled to perfection. The shrimp is perfectly pink and clean off all shell and skin, and the shrimp is pared perfectly with anything. When biting into the shrimp its like a quick pop of crunch it just pops and crunches at the same time, that is an odd way to describe it but every time I bite into the burrito and got a bite of shrimp that was the only way I could think of describing the shrimp and good it tasted. Getting a burrito mixed with shrimp is highly recommended, and no matter how big of a lunch you had I want to recommend always get a large as opposed to small, because once you finish a burrito from Burrito Bandidos you will want more! BELIEVE ME! ITS JUST THAT GOOD!

Humber College North and the burritos they serve!

I bet a lot of students who attend and attended the Humber College North campus went through many semesters and years without the realization of burritos on campus! But guess what folks burritos on the campus of Humber College North does have fresh burritos!!!!
My discovery of  the burritos was by my self and it was on a random day a few semesters ago, during the spring season. Now on this particular day as my day was slowly drawing to an end I couldn't stop but notice how many students had burritos. At first I was a little confused, during that semester I had a lot of long breaks and would consistently hang out in the student cafeteria, burritos never ever crossed my mind until I smelled the pita, meat and guacamole.

This is part of what the menu looks like at Humber College, I just took a picture of the burrito side of the menu because it pertains to the topic. BUT! They serve more than burritos if that doesn't tickle your fancy.

The Burrito Lingo

You can get one of two sizes, its a basic difference between small or large, NO MEDIUM! We're here to eat people! The small burrito is the 10" and the large burrito is a 12". There is always a choice of white or whole wheat pita, chicken, steak, beef, or vegetarian, there is no shrimp option on the menu. The burrito I purchased this afternoon was a 12" chicken burrito on whole wheat pita; I usually recommend a whole wheat pita, fills you up a little less compared to the white pita. The making of these is just like any other burrito place; you choose your size of burrito, the type of pita, and then meat ingredient along with or without rice and beans. (P.S it ain't an authentic burrito unless you get the rice and beans!) When I get a burrito I go all out!

The Burrito that was made @ Humber College North!

These is just a sneak peak, of some of the toppings and selections they offer, I couldn't get all the toppings in the picture but its the usual.

The Burrito I tried.....
On this particular afternoon I decided to get the 12" chicken burrito on whole wheat pita. I not a big fan of beef, pork or steak, so much of the burritos I try is chicken and or shrimp; I've never tried a veggie burrito just because I would feel there's not enough in my burrito. For this particular burrito at the Humber everything was good, it was grilled just enough so it was a but crunchy but soft enough to bite into, and the ingredients were fresh. On my burrito I got spicy salsa sauce no jalapenos and another kind of spicy sauce they have, you can, mix and match between two different kinds of beans. (which I did, and it was goooooood) The best thing about the 12" chicken burrito was the fresh guacamole, it is 2.00$ extra which is expected; this guacamole is GOOD! You can see the guacamole in the picture above, the beautiful green colour was perfect looked fresh, and when tasting the guacamole it tasted hand-made, not like something you would scoop out of a container from a grocery store. The grill is like a massive George Foreman grill, not a flat top grill; so when your burrito gets grilled you can be certain the grill marks are on your burrito!
Overall the burrito at Humber College North was a delicious success! Not as good as other burritos I've tried, but most definitely better than the mall burrito!
