Burrito Boyz. The HomeBoyz of Burritos!

There usually isn't any argument when it comes to whether or not Burrito Boyz makes the cut for excellent burritos. Because they do! Its well known, and just not from the burritos themselves but because of the many burrito locations Burrito Boyz has!
First off I'm going to say if you are unaware of Burrito Boyz then introduce your self! ACTUALLY if you don't know any burritos GO INTRODUCE YOUR SELF! You will never regret having a burrito as a friend!

LOCATIONS AND LOCATIONS HOURS!!!!!!
As said above and previously Burrito Boyz has lots of locations LOTS! There is no reason NOT to drop by and try a burrito none at all; SO NO EXCUSES FOR NOT TRYING BURRITO BOYZ!
There is the two locations in Toronto 218 Adelaide St West and 575 College St West both are open Monday to Wednesday from 11am to 11pm; Thursdays 11am to 3am; Friday and Saturday 11am to 4am; and last but not least the day of rest Sunday 11am to 11pm. Even Burrito Boyz gives you many reasons to visit and grab a burrito. The rest of the Burrito Boyz locations are in Mississauga, Brampton, Etobicoke, Streetsville, and Waterloo. For the relation to the name of the blog I will only mention the Toronto locations but you can check out the other locations at http://burritoboyz.ca/#/locations/

The well achieved deserved burritos!

The burritos my self and a friend got the night of Sunday February 26TH were well deserved burritos. The usual shift on Sunday evenings at Sportchek the mall and stores close at 7:00pm and the associates get out at 8:00. Yes it is enough time to grab a burrito from Burrito Boyz considering they close at 11pm on Sundays; but there was a co-worker of ours that was having going away gathering celebration for leaving our store and going to another Sportchek at a new mall. My self and my friend agreed to attend the going away gathering and leave 10:00pm at the very latest, giving us an hour to grab a juicy burrito. The going away gathering took place at Moxies in Yorkdale mall, we wanted to leave at 10:00 but service is not fast at Moxies and it takes a while to get an order, a beer, or even your bill. So we ended up paying our bill at 10:14pm; giving us 46 minutes to make it from Yorkdale to Burrito Boyz at 575 College St West we were determined to make it on time and not be the 10:58 last minute customers. We power walk to Yorkdale subway station, the southbound transit arrives just in time; we run up the escalator and run onto the train. All of a sudden over the subway train speaker there is a Transit announcement regarding Dundas West station and a police investigation, we panic; not knowing how were going to get a burrito. Then a second announcements echos through the Transit subway train; the announcement was something about skipping Dundas West station and going straight through to Spadina station our eyes widened with joy! The doors open we jump out of our seats and run out the subway doors, were halfway up the escalator till we hear the three warning beeps and the doors closing, by the time we exit Spadina station its 10:48! 12 minutes to get a burrito! Its close to a 10, 15 minute walk from Spadina station to Burrito Boyz. We figured if we power walk and jog not at the same time but switch back and forth from the two we will make it there for 10:55. The long power strides start and the time is consistently checked we have to make it there before 11; even if we get shin splints. Finally we`re half way there! Its so exciting, that red street light we saw is getting bigger and bigger, we can see it more clearly with every step, we start to jog, and not a slow jog, but a quicker sprint jog, we have to get burritos its 10:55 the time we wanted to be there by; now its not about whether or not we get there with 5 minutes to spare, now its about getting there before 10:58, we do not want to be 10:58 people and will try to do anything to get there before 10:58. We start to jog again, and this time its for a block or a block in a half but a good 2 or 3 blocks straight jogging; we turn onto College and the sign, we can see it clear as day, practically glowing as you see every letter BURRITO BOYZ! We walk in and I ask loudly and out of breath,``WE KNOW YOUR ABOUT TO CLOSE BUT CAN WE STILL GET A BURRITO? ITS FOR A BLOG FOR SCHOOL!"
They look at each other think about it for a quick second, before I interrupt once more to say quickly, "we would be very thankful and appreciative if we can get a quick burrito, were sorry we got here late but we tried to be as early before 11:00 as possible"; the burrito guy who grills all the burritos says sure, and so we approach the cash and order our burritos. "A large chicken and shrimp burrito on whole wheat with EVERYTHING ON IT! EVERYTHING!" "Can I get a large steak and shrimp burrito on whole wheat with EVERYTHING ON it, except tomatoes and green peppers". After our orders are taken down and typed into the cash register the cashier tells us "just to let you know for the future we do close at 11:00"; I replied "I know we're really sorry we meant to make it here sooner, but we were at work and left a little late getting here, and I really needed a burrito so I can write it on my blog". After that she was very understanding and we all continued to have simple conversations about work, and customers, and work; as we continued to wait for our burritos to be made.
I'm sure your wondering why these were well achieved deserved burritos, its because we made it before 11:00pm (10:58pm) still got two large mixed burritos and they tasted better than ever! Better than I remembered the first time I got a burrito from Burrito Boyz.

BURRRRRRRITOS!!!!!!!!
As said before there were two large mixed burritos on whole wheat pita and two Cokes. Just like the burritos from Burrito Bandidos these burritos were juuuicy! Again as said before getting Shrimp in your burrito with any meat is good! The shrimp is warm and soft but still has a crunchy bite to it as well as a bit of chew to it; its a crewnch! Medium spicy; spicy sauce, corn, cilantro, jalapenos, I've started to get jalapenos on my burritos it does taste better; its not too spicy if spice is a good friend of yours. Words from Ethan regarding the steak and shrimp burrito " The steak and shrimp burrito was delicious. The meat was fresh and well cooked the shrimp was juicy. The toppings were all fresh and the burrito was grilled crispier than any other burrito so far; which was nice. This was a similar style burrito to Burrito Bandidos. I do prefer Burrito Bandidos because their burritos are juicy, its not like Burrito Boyz still ain't juicy!"
And I couldn't agree with Ethan more! I don't hate on any burrito place, there are a few I do prefer over a few others, but I gotta say its tough competition between Burrito Bandidos, Burro Burrito, and Burrito Boyz.

Burro Burrito

They do not fail!
That slogan "Fresh, Fast, Best" that is exactly what Burro Burrito is! The ingredients literally home-made and fresh! I mean it fresh! Fast? YES IT WAS! did not have to wait long at all before orders were taken and burritos were made. Best? For my first time visit best? YES! For my first visit someone might say that is why it was the best, but it was because it was really was fresh and fast, and their menu is a menu that you would probably never see at another burrito places that is not Burro Burrito.

Location, Location, Location.
Burro Burrito has two locations both have pickups available as well as catering and delivery. One location is 655 College St. West. Toronto and the second is 388 Richmond St. West. Toronto. My self and a friend visited the College Street location on a Sunday evening. The hours of the College St location has generous hours, especially during the weekend on Friday and Saturday they are open from 11am to 3:30am, and because its right on College between Ossignton and Bathurst its perfect after a night out; like most locations. The College location has a spacious seating area, many tables with benches and chairs; this is a plus especially during the cold winter months or rainy springs you have a warm dry place to enjoy a delicious burrito. This is the same as most burrito restaurants but Burro Burrito has a menu with 9 different choices for a burrito. They also have naked burritos which is all the toppings without the tortilla (corn chips instead). You have the choice of burrito, naked burrito, quesadillas and tacos. But we are not talking about naked burritos, or quesadillas or tacos; we are talking about BURRITOS! And boy do they have some interesting but delicious burritos! First off there is a choice of bean black or pinto the choice of meats is when it gets interesting. There is a choice between chicken, steak, ground beef, a mix of chicken and steak, cochinita (shredded pork), soya (veggie), chorizo (ground sausage in potato), tinga (chicken breast in chipotle), Mole (chicken breast in 5 peppers); there is another that is on the restaurant menu but not on the take home menu and its a chicken with a chocolate sauce, called the molé.

Forget about the meat the burritos are FAT!

We talked about 'Big Fat Burrito' having fat burritos but Burro Burrito has very very fat burritos. As the picture shows it was a very fat burrito, its so fat they grill it on side so it doesn't explode. Its it not bad with one side grilled, its different and different is good. The grilled side of the burrito is a little crunchy, and non-grilled side is soft and moist. This is a large burrito, and the small burritos did look much smaller but the large is worth it.

Burrito trial and error
The two burritos my self and a friend tried are somewhat the usual but different as well. Different because Burro Burrito has a chicken breast in chipotle burrito. It is shredded chicken in chipotle sauce, I didn't try it but my friend did, and he said it was amazing! I assumed the burrito would be amazing considering its a chiopotle chicken burrito! And the chicken burrito is used with dark chicken; which yes is more fattening but has so much more juice to it. Besides the meat the toppings are also just as amazing and good, why good because it all home-made and was a topping you can eat by its self. For example the rice they put on the burrito is spiced and sauced, its not just plain white or brown rice, but rice that was prepared to be eating by its self and in a burrito. Burro Burritos guacamole is also delicious, and they have a few other ingredients added to the guacamole for an extra bite. Because Burro Burrito makes big fat burritos they pre-steam the pitas so it has a little extra stretch to it, if they didn't steam the burrito they wouldn't be able to wrap them and that's a burrito fact.

Large whole wheat Tang burrito (Chicken Breast in Chipotle)

Large whole wheat Chicken (dark meat) burrito

Both of the burritos have EVERYTHING on it, including all the sauces sour creme and mild spice sauce. There is mild, medium and spicy, both burritos have the medium sauce they said the spicy sauce was very spicy. The medium spice is perfect but then again it always depends how well you take spice. The only thing is the second burrito the dark meat chicken burrito didn't doesn't have cilantro, oh yes Burro Burrito does put cilantro in their burritos. Oh right and CORN! Burro Burrito gives you the option of corn in your burrito! The burritos are just over 11$ including a drink, this is for large burritos a smaller burrito would obviously cost less, but no matter the size its all worth it.

Big Fat Burrito 'I love em' big and fat'

'I LOVE EM' BIG AND FAT!'
Something you might say after eating a large burrito from 'Big Fat Burrito'.

The burrito obsession
Big Fat Burrito was the first burrito place that opened my taste-buds to a world of Mexican cuisine burritos! It started when me and two other friends wanted some good grub after a night out of drinking, first making a trip to Burrito Bandidos only to find out they were closed, we then walked over to Big Fat Burrito. The Annex location is open late on weekends, Fridays and Saturdays they're open till 3:30 A.M which is perfect timing for after a night out of drinking. It is busy with people talking loudly and it may take a little while if it is busy, but damn is it ever a good burrito. The first time I went there I got a large chicken burrito with everything on it except jalapenos, just like many burritos grilled to perfection and has a good amount of weight to it. After finishing that burrito for the first time I had to find other places that served burritos, and after already trying a few places Big Fat Burrito is still one of my favorites, but now that spot is shared with a few other places that make amazing burritos.

What Big Fat Burrito does for you
Big Fat Burrito has 3 locations all in the Toronto area. There is a location in Kensington Market (285 Augusta Avenue) The Annex location at 529 Bloor Street West (open late on Fridays and Saturdays till 3:30 A.M) and then the Bay and Dundas located at 112 Dundas Street West. The Big Fat Burrito location I visited on two different occasions was the Annex location. Big Fat Burrito for the most part is very similar compared to to a few other burrito places in the downtown Toronto area, the trendy decor the burrito bar for a quick sit down, stocked fridge full of soft drinks, and the cool trendy young adults working and making your burritos the best they can be. Not only does the chill atmosphere make you feel calm and collective but the burritos make you feel satisfied and full for days; who doesn't like those feelings of burrito satisfaction.
Big Fat Burrito is one of the only places I've tried so far that serve pulled-pork burritos, and if you like yams in your burritos you can get that for only a dollar, fresh guacamole isn't extra; just the yams. My self and my two burrito friends who joined me for some burrito grub didn't choose yams either so I judge the flavors; I can only imagine that if your a fan of yams it would taste delicious. Just in general its better when burrito places have their beans a bean paste instead of actual beans, both would be nice, beans and bean paste; but I personally prefer a brown bean paste as opposed to actual beans, it just spreads and taste better; most of the places I've gone use a bean paste except the burritos at Humber College, and the Burritos at Yorkdale's Taco Villa. But then again no offence to them their burritos are pretty good but not as good as these downtown Toronto locations.

Chicken, Pulled-Pork, and Steak

Large Chicken Burrito with everything on it except jalapenos (All sauces included).

Large Pulled-Pork Burrito with everything on it except green and red peppers (All sauces included).

Large Steak Burrito everything on it EVERYTHING (All sauces included).

*None of these burritos had added yams*

Was Big Fat Burrito Fat enough?
Big Fat Burrito has some of the fattest, biggest burritos in terms of small and large burritos. Ingredients are very similar to those of other burrito places you have the selection of meat, Big Fat Burrito is one of the only locations I know of so far that have pulled-pork and yams. But guacamole is fresh, rice is good! The bean paste is delicious and brown, the pitas are grilled crunchy enough to hear it but soft enough to bit into. The chicken, pulled-pork, and steak is grilled to perfection as it steams out through the rest of the ingredients and the pita. Big Fat Burrito does not let you mix meat ingredients like Burrito Bandidos does, and Big Fat Burrito doesn't offer a shrimp burrito. BUT! they do have veggie small or large, yam small or large, ground beef large or small, and as you know the last three that I have been talking about over and over again, the chicken, pulled-pork and steak large or small. Even though Big Fat Burritos has some of the fattest burritos I've ever eaten and it sounds very filling (which it is) I STILL HIGHLY RECOMMEND EVERYTHING ON IT AND A LARGE BURRITO!
Something I've learned after eating a few burritos is when you don't get a large after you finish the small your a little sad that you don't have those last few bites to finish off and savor the last little bit of that fabulous burrito.

BIG FAT BURRITO HAS THE FATTEST BURRITOS EVER!

Burrito Bandidos!!

Burrito Bandidos!

This was an excellent burrito! This was my first time visiting Burrito Bandidos. There was another time I was going to get a burrito after a night out with the buddies but they were closed. The service at any burrito place with young hip adults working there is going to have a very friendly and relaxed atmosphere. I went to the Burrito Bandidos at Bloor St. W, at Walmer Road. It is a bit small but there is a bar table and stools to sit and enjoy an excellent burrito. Order your burrito small or large remember 10 or 12 inch white or whole wheat pita; Burrito Bandidos lets you mix with steak, chicken, shrimp, and halibut, vegetarian to but that is pretty much the same as getting the vegetable toppings on your burrito.
I went to Burrito Bandidos with a friend two burritos is better than one. I got a whole wheat small yes I know small (I had a big lunch earlier) but a small whole wheat chicken and shrimp burrito, my friend was a warrior and got a large whole wheat shrimp and steak burrito. After selecting the type of burrito you say what toppings you want and what toppings you don't want, take a seat; chill and wait for your burrito to be made. They give you an order number, its only really important to remember your burrito order number when its busy but if its dead and you and a few other people in there just remember your burrito. The price for a burrito and drink and very similar to those of other burrito places but the halibut burrito is the most expensive and you can only get it in a large. OH Burrito Bandidos doesn't charge for fresh guacamole either! All the other burrito places I've been too they charge an 2.00$ for fresh guacamole, Burrito Bandidos does not charge you and it tasted fresher than any other guacamole I've had! Its exactly like home-made guacamole.

The juiciest burrito I've had yet!
Yes! I did say juicy, because that is what the chicken and shrimp burrito was! JUICY! And I'm sure my friend who got a shrimp and steak burrito would agree. Not only was the burrito grilled to perfection with a bit of crunch but soft enough to still bite into it with ease. Burrito Bandidos has a generous selection of toppings and sauces to choose from, with these options available I usually get everything except jalapenos, sometimes I'm afraid that will be too spicy. As well as the sauces I choose all the sauces, that is a factor as to why the burrito was juicy but it was also the grilled chicken and shrimp, the fresh vegetables, the well cooked rice and beans, and then the fresh guacamole with its brilliant beautiful green color! The first bite into the burrito was just the best, all the toppings mixing together in one bite with none of the toppings falling all over the place, its a messy burrito, but it all the toppings stay together in the pita.

These are the burritos from Burrito Bandidos
Chicken and Shrimp burrito            Shrimp and Steak burrito

These pictures up top the shrimp isn't visible enough BUT this picture has a nice big piece of shrimp.

"Chicken and Shrimp hmmmm I don't know...."
That was the first thing I said prior to trying a chicken and shrimp burrito, but I assure you it is absolutely delicious! The chicken is soft and warm and melts in your mouth, grilled to perfection. The shrimp is perfectly pink and clean off all shell and skin, and the shrimp is pared perfectly with anything. When biting into the shrimp its like a quick pop of crunch it just pops and crunches at the same time, that is an odd way to describe it but every time I bite into the burrito and got a bite of shrimp that was the only way I could think of describing the shrimp and good it tasted. Getting a burrito mixed with shrimp is highly recommended, and no matter how big of a lunch you had I want to recommend always get a large as opposed to small, because once you finish a burrito from Burrito Bandidos you will want more! BELIEVE ME! ITS JUST THAT GOOD!
